I know that this is a little late, and I haven't posted on here for a while, but I figured that since it is summer that I would take the time to at least do a "Summer Movie Review" segment. So to kick off this segment: X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Being the first big movie of the summer season I was pumped for this flicks release. Like most comic book films I followed the details of its released closely. Also, like most comic book films, I wasn't expecting much from this film. Good comic book are after all few and far between. So going in with such a mindset I can't say that I was at all disappointed.
Wolverine is a fun movie. It is what a summer movie should be: mindless action where everything and everyone blows up just for the sake of seeing it happen. Wolverine accomplishes its goal of showcasing the clawed-mutie and really revealing to the audience all that he is capable of. It's a visual thrill ride that provides movie0goers with original sequences that could only be accomplished in the genre.
Now most people might complain about the whole Deadpool thing. "They f'ked up the character!" Yes, yes they did. And yes, at first I was angry. But already Fox is in the process of coming out with a new Deadpool film that Ryan Reynolds is supervising the production of. So just accept that sometimes in adaptations some elements have to be changed. And it's just a movie, so take a deep breath and relax already.
On my own creation of a rating system I give this movie the following score:
Music (1/2 Star): 1/2 Star
SFX (1/2 Star): 1/2 Star
Directing (1 Star): 1 Star
Writing/Story (1 Star): 0 Star
Acting (1 Star): 1 Star
Enjoyment (1 Star): 1 Star
Total Score: 4 out of 5 Stars
